So if there's a thread with a correct answer that isn't yet marked correct by the OP, such as http://namethatpornstar.com/thread.php?id=870522 and I click the confirm button like I did, does it eventually get marked correct automatically?
by mag7 2 years, 1 month ago
No confirmations
Well now it's marked correct, either by the OP or because 2 other users confirmed it. I'm still not sure how that works.

Two people have to click confirm for it to be resolved. Threads can sit unresolved for a long time until they finally get two people to confirm it which then "solves" the post.

Zed & mag7: That is interesting... From my recollection (as muddled as it may be), I think I have seen "some" threads with 2 or more Confirms that are not marked CORRECT. I wonder if there is some "age of thread" involved in the 2 confirm dealio???? I just had a look at "high point value award" threads in my profile... it does indeed seem that 2 confirms does the trick - at least for threads a week or more old ;-)

I am still stickin' with "I have seen threads with 2 or more UserNAMES confirming an answer and the thread NOT yet marked CORRECT" --- I will attend to this issue for a current example and report !! Damn! I love mysteries!

Here's what I have noticed: after a second person confirms - there must be some process that runs every so often to mark the tread as solved. That seems to be why when I add a second confirmation, it takes a while before the thread is marked solved. Interesting if you've seen different behavior. Could be an aging factor involved. I'll keep an eye out too.

I'm guessing it's either age of thread or status/point level of users who confirm. In the example I tried to use above, there were no confirms on the answer before I posted the comment on this thread. Within 2-3 hours of when I confirmed it, someone else confirmed it and it became "solved".

CCC and Zed, wanna use this as a test? - http://namethatpornstar.com/thread.php?id=1432199

Sure - I confirmed the first confirmation. CCC - confirm second and see how long it takes before its marked as solved.

Zed, I don't mean to overdo it but here's one for you to try - http://namethatpornstar.com/thread.php?id=1516537. I've been exploring and found some threads with an answer confirmed by one user and not yet marked as correct. On all of those threads it only took a few minutes for them to become "solved" after I added the second confirmation. Granted, I haven't found any to try which are less than about a week old, so there may still be an age factor.

Ok mag7 - I provided the second confirmation on that post. Then I continuously hit refresh until it was officially marked solved. 5 mins exactly. Until it was marked solved, there was an option to let me "unconfirm". My guess is that the system doesn't automatically solve so that you have a few mins to change your mind and unconfirm.
