@mikeursomny13 at the very least it's highly unethical

@Archiver highly unethical?? Explain please. these porn actors aren't wearing masks. They make a conscious decision to be out in public with their work. How would it be highly unethical to name someone? By your reasoning it would be highly unethical to say the real name of a wrestler who uses a pseudonym, or a Hollywood actor who has changed their name. Don't agree at all, but interested in your further opinion...hope you reply

@mikeyursomny13 I don't see how level of fame plays into this. Yes it would be unethical (in my opinion) to provide a real name of a Hollywood actor who uses a pseudonym. While a risk always exists (even if they are wearing a mask- a birthmark or tattoo or even metadata from a media file they post can reveal their identity), they signed a contract with their employer not to divulge their personal details. Even if an outsider recognizes who they are, we realize that they made a choice not to divulge that information and therefore we should respect their decision. (Perhaps 'respect' is more appropriate word than 'ethical' here). We also (again just in my opinion) should appreciate the circumstances of someone who works in adult film vs hollywood; at least in America- society is a bit backwards towards the nature of sex work. If her real identity was to be divulged online, the information will always be readily available for background checks, which seriously lowers the sex-worker's future occupation opportunities. I respect the employer's right of choice, but in principle don't agree that someone should be discriminated against for partaking in action that most adults do, but on screen.

Definitely an interesting take. We simply vary on our opinion of it being unethical, or disrespectful, as you say. And I just gave two examples of other professions that use pseudonyms, I didn't make any inference to any level of fame, or how that should matter. It would seem you just extrapolated that on your own, because that wasn't my intent. Just the opposite actually. Simple point being, ANYONE, who has made their own conscious decision to change their name but be wholly in the public eye, has made a knowing decision the there is NEVER absolute anonymity for themselves ahead of time, and also has chosen to accept the ramifications of their decision ahead of time if that was to be made aware, whether with future employment, family, relationships or other. EVERY SINGLE porn actor in the world goes by a pseudonym. I can say with complete 100% confidence that not every single one of them does it to hide their identity. It's simply part of the trade. I've seen many interviews where adult stars talk about exactly where they are from, and what they are thought of back home, etc. August Ames, or Mercedes Grabowski in real life, is an example (again just an example). Although I'm not going to mention Brooke's real name here, I don't feel beholden to keep her identity secret because of an expected level of ethics or respect. I also don't feel I'm a person of low moral character. We obviously just have varying opinions as previously stated about this. And just an FYI, this has become a common known thing here locally in Wisconsin about her.

my bad about misreading what you meant regarding an individuals level of fame. the bottom line for me is that I believe people should respect other's privacy whenever possible. Feel free to share her content anonymously online, as that's what she agreed to provide to the public, but not her personal information. Feel free to talk about Kevin Spacey, but don't go giving out his mailing address if he wants to keep his life outside of acting quiet. and yes, certainly it isn't the intention of every pornstar to keep their identity secret (btw I believe there are a few rare instances in which pornstars use their real name, such as Dan Leal and Dana Dearmond) but if and what personal information they decide to divulge- shouldn't it be done on their own merits? I agree, you don't owe Brooke anything (and maybe if you know her well enough personally she wouldn't care either way), but to me it just seems like a douchey move. Whether they agreed to risking their anonymity or not. Not the best analogy, but higher ranking law enforcement officials and individuals under witness protection operate under the fact there is a risk of being identified, but just because this risk exists doesn't mean the floodgates should ever be opened to unwanted attention when an opportunity arises. I commend you for not releasing Brooke's real name, but just out of curiosity- if you don't considered this action unethical, disrespectful, or an invasion of privacy, what is stopping you? (p.s. releasing her name may implicitly be against the rules according to the last sentence in the disclaimer If you would like to remove content related to non-copyright issues such as privacy but perhaps you didn't know this inferring from your comment a few posts above)
